A never-ending zombie story.

Rick Grimes is a small town cop that gets shot and goes into a coma. A month later he wakes up to find that the hospital is deserted…well, deserted of anyone alive. Rick sets off to Atlanta to find his wife and son, only to find that Atlanta is overran by zombies. Rick finds his family along with some other survivors outside of the city and decides to take control of the group from his partner Shane. Along the way Rick starts to collect other survivors as he loses some to zombie attacks. The horrific events start to take their toll on Rick and threaten his sanity and the safety of the survivors that are following him.

I had the great fortune to read the first three collected hardbacks of this series and I have to admit that I’m hooked. With color covers, the series is done in black and white, which gives it a similar feel to Night of the Living Dead. The panels are laid out perfectly to build suspense usually followed by a splash page that makes you stop and go over every line and detail. My only word of caution is not to get too attached to any character.
