Tracker #4 is a new offering from Top Cow Productions, Inc. written by Jonathan Lincoln, the creator of the series. Derec Donovan works well with Lincoln, giving us graphic artwork to appease the gore hound in all of us. Francis Tsai provides us with a cover guaranteed to draw attention from most of the other horror comics on the racks.

For readers new to the series, Tracker is about Alex O’Roark, an FBI agent who has been hunting down the infamous serial killer, Herod. O’Roark was attacked by Herod and woke in the hospital only to find that he had been turned into a werewolf.

There’s your back story, not that you really need one. Tracker is a fresh, cool new series full of clichéd dialogue, graphic violence and werewolves. If that doesn’t sell you on Tracker nothing will.

In this issue; O’Roark finds himself watching an 11 year old werewolf named Jack Remple. He knows Herod is stalking the kid, and convinces his partner, Jezebel Kendall, and his superiors to use the boy as bait in a sting operation. There’s a reason that Herod’s evaded captivity and O’Roark is going to find out he’s not the only one watching.

By the end of the comic Herod manages to make the case even more personal for the FBI agent turned werewolf. Lincoln has set us up for one hell of a climax.

In a world where everyone is either following the trends of Twilight or X-Men, Lincoln writes outside the box. It was an incredibly fun read. The page count is a bit contrived as there are several full page advertisements for other releases. The quick story does exactly what a comic is supposed to do… it leaves you longing for the next issue.

I have to say this is one of the best horror comics I’ve read since the original Tales from the Crypt series.
