Murder, mayhem, and elves???
A murder at a free
clinic wraps up a huge corporation, various religions, and multiple races
making different forces team up to figure out the mystery. Blood research is
being used to create something that is anything but healthy. And a masked man
is running about the city killing other warriors as if they were nothing.
I have to admit: anything
that involves elves, trolls, and ogres isn’t usually my cup of tea. But the way
Tinsley has taken all of these and dropped them into a modern New York-like
city, Stonehaven,
really kept my interest. The writing was really good and the story was intriguing
enough to enthrall me. There are a few problems with this book though. Tinsley
has a great ear for dialog but he wants to insert silly dialog tags and adverbs
too much, they are completely unnecessary. To and too seemed to be mixed up for
a big chunk of the book. And while the plot and subplots were great the book
didn’t wrap them all up before it was over.
Stonehaven is a series and the
book wanted to open up the next one but this novel should have been mostly
wrapped up before we start on the next one.
I will be looking
forward to the next installment.
