Don’t judge a book by
its publisher.
Rick Evans is a
college student that wants to be open to new things. Meeting a new girl, Carley, and her strange roommate, Rick finds people who are
trying to talk to the dead. He decides that he can use the new experiences for
an anthropology class. But when he becomes interested in séances he opens up a
world that is filed with horrible things and he finds himself tied to them.
Everything he has ever known is about to change for the worst and he might not
be able to get out of the way.
Open Grave is a collection of nine stories and a
novella, which shares the title. There are some turds
floating around in the short story bowl but I find that just about any
anthology will have a couple of stories that not everyone will like. A couple
of stories like The Burial and Monday Night Dive were refreshing and original.
The novella was interesting. A little repetitive at some points and not overly
original but the writing held its own which held my attention.
It kept me reading and
is worth a look: 3.5 out of 5
