Like finding and
rereading an old letter from a long lost friend.
King presents us with
13 tales, most of which have been written in the last few years. King weaves
beautiful stories with some wide ranges, from post 9/11 guilt to OCD behavior,
from dealing with loss to killer house pets.
I really enjoyed this
book but I have to say that this isn’t really a horror collection that we come
to expect from King. “N.” being the scariest story of the collection, is
accompanied by a few other stories that would fall into the frightening
category. Not to fret, there is still the classic deep description and rich
characterization that are King’s trademarks. Also this book can be purchased as
a collector’s set which contains a DVD of a graphic video of the story ‘N.’ Not
quite a comic book and not quite a cartoon the DVD falls somewhere in between
and is almost as scary as the story itself. Or you can watch the video here, but I would
recommend reading the story first.
A great treat to the
fans and maybe something for readers who don’t care to venture into the dark
without a flashlight.
