It’s
good to see that Sam Raimi never came all the way out
of the woods.
Christine
(Alison Lohman) is a
country girl that has moved to the big city and is trying hard to impress her
new boyfriend’s family and fit in. As a loan officer at a bank she wants to
move up. A gypsy woman (Lorna Raver) comes
to the bank to ask for an extension on her home loan. Christine can give her an
extension but decides to turn her down in order to impress her boss. After a
fight between the two of them the gypsy curses Christine with a demon known as

I loved
this. The whole movie was just fun. It bares a close resemblance to Thinner, but that’s okay; a good story can
be repeated with a few changes here and there. Raimi
is back to his roots here. Watching a few minutes of this film, you just know
that it is Sam Raimi. The only thing that bothered me
throughout was Alison Lohman’s performance. Not only
does she still look like she’s 16, her face doesn’t have a broad range of
expression. When she plays trouble teenagers, like in White Oleander, she’s
perfect. Here it just seemed like she was never truly scared.
Love
it, buy it: 5 out of 5
