FALLBROOK FILM FESTVAL

April 9-11, 2010

                           River Village Plaza, Bonsall

This film festival is one that we look forward to.  We attended the first annual Fallbrook Film Festival in 2008 and were overly impressed by their professionalism and organization.  At that time it was held in downtown Fallbrook and the atmosphere of the small town gave even more to the presentation of this film festival.  There were multiple viewing areas for films including an outdoor screen set up in a lot, all surrounded by restaurants, bars and stores.  This year’s festival was relocated to a small plaza shopping center in Bonsall and regretfully, the quaint atmosphere is lost here.  Most of the center is empty, except for a few eateries and a market, although the pizza parlor we ate at was extremely good.  The theater in which the films were shown was clean and comfortable and everything seemed to run fairly smoothly.  Now, when we attended the final evening, we will have to say, we were a bit disappointed in the way it was set up.  There was an array of vendors with merchandise and food set up in a horseshoe surrounded by rope to keep everyone within the circle... regretfully, this circle was about the size of a large apartment trying to hold in about a hundred people.  It was cramped to say the least; we kept getting stepped on and run into and found that we could only handle being there for about fifteen minutes before we both felt so claustrophobic that we had to leave.  Being unsure as to the ‘why’ they had to move locations, we wish they would consider moving it back to Fallbrook, after all it is the Fallbrook Film Festival... still, this is a worthwhile festival to attend and the staff are wonderful to deal with.
