The world is full of fragments and
shards of accepted truths that have circulated throughout time. Research and curiosity have procured a number
of strange anomalies which deserve the opportunity to continue their evolution
into immortality. Withersin challenges
each of you to take 666 words or 666 lines and expound on the following South
East Asian mythological beast. Give it
life, give it death, weave it another story in which to dwell. We will honor the best author/artist with a
free one year subscription to Withersin, and will print a chosen few in our
future pages.

TOYOL
This is a
spirit which is kept in a jar with a fetus and some special liquid to preserve
it. The Toyol is kept by people to do their
bidding, but the price for keeping it is you HAVE to feed it your own blood
EVERYDAY. Some Toyols have special
‘needs’ as well. If the spirit is that
of a child, you’d usually have to provide it with a couple of toys to play
with. If money goes missing and white
ants (or termites) are found where the money should have bee, the Toyol has
just done its bidding for their master.
